A faster attendance count that doesn't replace your official record

The smartest way to use an attendance counter is alongside your official system, not instead of it. Your student information system, PowerSchool, Skyward, Infinite Campus, is the system of record for state reporting and the grade book, and nothing should change that. But entering attendance there in the moment, while you're also teaching, is slow and error-prone. The counter is the fast in-the-moment instrument: tap as students arrive, get a clean total, then transcribe the final figures into the SIS at the end of the period. You get speed where you need it and authority where it counts.

The pre-set category model is what makes it quick. Three counters, Present, Absent, Tardy, cover most roll calls, and the three totals reconcile against your roster in seconds. Because the counts persist between periods, you can run the same set all day, resetting only when you choose, rather than rebuilding a tally each class.

Two ways to count, depending on what you need

Totals only (fastest): three counters for Present / Absent / Tardy. Tap as you take roll, read the totals, enter them officially. Ideal for large classes or lectures where you just need the headcount to balance.

Per-student (richer): one labeled counter per student name. Tap each as they arrive, or use it to track participation and contributions across the period rather than just presence. This turns attendance-taking into a participation log, something a simple headcount can't give you.

Either way, counts save automatically in your browser's local storage and persist between sessions on that device, so an interrupted roll call isn't lost. For a permanent record, screenshot the Grid view at the end of the session for a date-stamped snapshot, there is no built-in export. Co-teachers each count on their own device and combine the totals manually; there is no shared or multi-user counter.
